The Medical Summer Broadening Programme is a two-week course that enables students to understand the principles of medical and health sciences through a range of activities and visits. The programme aims to broaden their horizons and to allow them to experience university learning through the engagement with our teachers and students and participation in campus life. It is an opportunity for those who are interested in pursuing a career in the medical and healthcare profession.
The theme for this year is ‘Healthy Living’. The programme will look at the relationships between health and disease through the context of different specialties, such as Chinese Medicine and Public Health, etc.
During the two-week programme, students will participate in lectures, tutorials, laboratory practicals, and clinical skills sessions. Students also have the option to stay in a hall of residence. The programme will conclude with a high table dinner.
Students will be assessed by their attendance, performance during small group learning activities, group projects and presentations. Participants are required to attend all scheduled activities. Approval to take leave of absence will only be granted based on medical grounds with provision of valid medical certificates or under very exceptional circumstances.
